La Grande Vitesse is a painted steel sculpture created by Alexander Calder.

Name and nicknames

La Grande Vitesse is roughly translated as "the grand swiftness". Locally, most residents simply call the sculpture "the Calder".


La Grande Vitesse is located in Calder Plaza, a span of concrete just east of the City of Grand Rapids building and the Kent County building.
